Overview
PTS strives to extend TracerPlus operating system support beyond manufacturer end of development and support dates. While doing this we also consider how the increased cost to support customers on end of life operating systems impacts the cost to support current operating systems.
Microsoft's end of life for Windows CE and Windows Embedded Handheld (Windows Mobile) 6.5 was December 2019. More importantly Windows Mobile Device center, a critical component required for cabled data syncing and TracerPlus application deployment, is also no longer supported by Microsoft. The lack of updates to these products has resulted in a significant increase in support volume involving deployments using these Windows platforms.
What you need to know.
TracerPlus version 11 will not support devices running Windows CE and Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 .
Support plans for Windows Mobile and CE TracerPlus licenses, renewing after 12/31/2020 will automatically upgrade to Extended Life Support. Extended Life Support is a premium support agreement that does not include patch releases for bugs. Any patch software releases required to address customer issues would be contracted separately.
Customers with active support agreements can transfer licenses to Android or iOS devices at no cost.
Customers with active support agreements that wish to move to subscription licenses will receive a 50% discount on their first year’s subscription fees when they transfer their licenses by 3/31/2021. Customers who have paid for their next year’s support will receive a credit for their subscriptions licenses up to the full value of the subscription.
Customers with inactive support for Windows Mobile devices and CE devices may transfer their inactive device licenses to subscription licenses with a 25% discount if done before 3/31/2021 . Device IDs will be retired from the system and applied to android or iOS devices.
