I'd love it if there were a way for me to label devices in connect registration. It would be ideal for keeping track of my users/devices, as well as the possibility of easier visibility in logs and perhaps making a stamp in sql. Accountability is difficult when you have to reference device id's...
That's fair. We swap devices a lot due to our seasonal nature. We'd be more likely to have spare licenses on hand to device swap and write new programs if we could revert a retired license even if there was a limit on how many times you could do it in a period of time so as not to abuse it.
"Currently the only way to get sync time stamps would be to look at the log file."
Well if this is ever added I owe some programmers lunch! Thanks for the replies.
What if you set up the sync to make a line entry that will launch your triggers? This way it would only kick off after your scan process. It seems like you could easily create a field to enter a value on a sync only.
This is a great suggestion. I'll have to see if I can timestamp as well. It would be good to see the scan time stamps. I also want to get sync time stamps.
I'm looking to be able to identify devices by name or registration number (not IP) every time they sync data. It would help me trend users and see activity much easier. I'd also like to be able to store the data in sql instead of a log file so I can run reports on the data.
I'd love to be able to retire a device and then unretire it at a later time. My reasoning for this is we often have a device that is lost or broken with a registered client. Some times it is not a device we are willing to repair immediately so it gets retired so we can use the license on another...
I'd like to be able to update PTS remotely or with automatic updates ( I understand I can do it with a MDM). Having to do it manually and collect all of my mobile units from the field is extremely costly and causes a lot of labor loss. It seems like pushing the .APK with the project with a sync...
